Why me?
While born in Grapevine Texas, I have lived in San Diego my whole life. I've had a passion for tinkering and engineering going back as far as I can remember. My strengths include: a serious head for numbers, effective communication skills, a dexterous mind with the drive to gain proficiency in anything, my simple to goal design philosophy, along with so many other skills which make me an incredibly capable individual.
A Knack for Numbers
One of my greatest strengths is an ability to impartially find meaning in data sets, and apply it to the task at hand. Whether the task is creating spreadsheets to make more informed purchasing decisions (I did this for all of my camping and rock climbing gear), or creating log plots with tens of thousands of data points to see if the testing aligns with the theory (I honed this ability in fluid dynamics labs).
Communication is Key
My greatest strength as an engineer is my ability to talk to people. I am not the stereotypical head in a book engineer. I understand that blasting out all the information is not the way to convey a difficult idea or complex situation (this was crucial for explaining robotic systems to kids and companies during robotics outreaches). I can take an idea, break it down, and figure out a way to get it across to a person who thinks differently than I (I used this to great effect while tutoring calculus and physics).
Pivot Like a Pro
I am a curious person. I love learning, and I possess the drive to become proficient in anything. When my robotics team was struggling to build complex autonomous programs, I hit the grindstone, and with no background in programming, taught myself to program in Java.
Simple to Goal Design Philosophy
Present in each of my projects from the last six years, this philosophy puts an emphasis on goal oriented design. I start with as simple of a base as possible, test, and build up towards the finished product.
